Bambusa vulgaris

The 竹 symbol, representing two bamboo branches with leaves (pronounced “zhu”), in Chinese language is used within the names of all the variations of this plant (an amazing 1400+ different species).

Bambusa vulgaris is a sympodial species which grows from the soil in a slowly expanding clump.

In Asia it is commonly believed that regularly drinking tea made from the tender leaves of this plant is beneficial for increasing collagen production, improving bone health, and strengthening hair and nails.
